Dear residents of Idridgehay,
I could not fault our village at all, but that doesn't mean I don't think it could be improved.
So I ask you, what do you think our lovely village missing?
My answer to that was a cafe.
I am Ryan, and as many of you will know, I moved to the village just over 5 years ago now. As soon as we moved, I fell in love with the location, the people, and of course, the scenery.
Now that the old previous pub is being sold with planning permission to convert it into a home, our village has no built-for-purpose venue, or anywhere to meet friends.
Despite not being religious myself, we do have a beautiful church, which for the past few years has acted as a venue for village activities. Those creating those events, such as the fish & chip nights and community kitchen, have done an impecable job realasing that oppurtunity. However, I feel that a cafe could help take some of this burden off of the church, and could become a service solely focused around the village and it's residents.
With my girlfriend Lillie, we would love to be able to create a cosy, little cafe, where you can meet with local friends or from afar to explore the scenic countryside and end with a warm, fresh, home-made lunch or gather your family for an afternoon coffee and cake.
I know some of you may have worries about new buildings, traffic, too-much tourism, and other consequences. I want to acknowledge that, and have these at the forefront of any decisions.
With this in mind, I ask for your thoughts and comments. As before I take this any further than a business concept and plan, I want to confirm that the local residents would support a cafe. That is why, I have decided to write this, create a web page to share your feedback, and answer any questions you may have.
At the bottom of this page is a contact box, whilst it does have space for you to leave your name and contact email/phone, this is only if you would like follow up conversation and acknowledgement. If you would prefer to leave a comment unnanomously, please do so.
